Where Cycling, Style, Entertainment & Human Stories Meet
Fashion. Comedy. Music. Real Stories. Community.
Every person has a story. Every story deserves to be heard. Every journey can inspire someone else.
Welcome to My Bike, My Story, a creative community project by Tranquility Cycles CIC celebrating the people, experiences and life journeys connected to cycling.
We believe that cycling is about more than sport, speed, competitions or travelling from one place to another. It can be about freedom, confidence, independence, friendship, wellbeing, overcoming barriers and discovering new possibilities.
Behind every bicycle is a person. Behind every person is a story.
Some people have been cycling since childhood. Some have competed professionally. Some have only recently learned to ride. Others have never had the opportunity to learn but dream of one day experiencing the freedom of cycling.
We want to hear your story.
Whether you are a professional cyclist, an amateur rider, a beginner, a former cyclist returning to the bike, a bicycle mechanic, a cycling enthusiast or someone who has never cycled before, you are welcome to be part of My Bike, My Story.
You do not need to be famous, have won a race or have an extraordinary achievement. Your everyday experiences, challenges, memories, ambitions and dreams matter too.
1. What Is My Bike, My Story?
My Bike, My Story is an inclusive storytelling and entertainment experience that brings together cycling, fashion, comedy, music and community connection.
Created by Tranquility Cycles CIC, the project aims to create a welcoming platform where people can share how cycling has shaped their lives—or how they hope it might change their lives in the future.
Through real-life stories and creative performances, we want to celebrate the diversity of people connected to cycling, challenge stereotypes about who cycling is for, and encourage more people to discover the joy of riding a bicycle.
The project will bring together people from different backgrounds, cultures, professions and generations, including those who are often underrepresented in cycling.
Our vision is to make cycling feel more accessible, welcoming and relevant to everyone.
Our mission
To inspire people through real stories, creative expression and shared experiences, encouraging more people to explore cycling, build confidence, connect with others and experience the freedom of two wheels.
2. YOUR STORY BELONGS HERE — SHARE YOUR BIKE STORY
Have you got a bike story to tell?
We would love to hear from you!
Your story might be about:
- Your first bicycle: The excitement, memories or challenges of getting your first bike.
- Learning to cycle: How you learned as a child or finally found the confidence to learn as an adult.
- Your professional journey: Your experiences as a professional cyclist, racer, coach, mechanic, team member or cycling industry professional.
- Your everyday cycling life: How cycling helps you travel, work, explore, exercise or spend time with family and friends.
- Overcoming barriers: How you faced fear, financial difficulties, cultural expectations, lack of opportunity or other challenges connected to cycling.
- Returning to cycling: What brought you back to the bike after years away.
- Your cycling adventures: Memorable rides, unexpected discoveries, difficult moments or experiences that changed your perspective.
- Your future cycling dream: Something you would love to achieve, experience or learn.
- Your story beyond the bicycle: How cycling has influenced your confidence, independence, wellbeing, relationships or sense of belonging.
- Your connection to cycling: Perhaps you repair bicycles, support riders, organise events, design cycling clothing or simply love being around the cycling community.
You might have a funny story, an emotional memory, an inspiring achievement or a simple experience that means a lot to you.
You may be an experienced cyclist or someone who has never ridden a bike.
Every story starts somewhere. What is yours?
Who can submit a story?
Everyone is welcome, including:
- Professional and competitive cyclists
- Amateur and recreational cyclists
- Beginners and people learning to cycle
- People who have never learned to ride
- Bicycle mechanics, coaches, ride leaders and cycling volunteers
- Women and girls who have faced barriers to cycling
- Men, women, young people and older adults
- New Scots, refugees, migrants and people from different cultural backgrounds
- Families, community members and people who simply love a good story
You do not need to be a member of a cycling club or an expert in the sport. You do not need to own a bicycle.
If cycling has touched your life—or if you hope it will one day—you have a place here.
3. CHOOSE HOW YOU WANT TO SHARE YOUR STORY
We understand that everyone has a different way of expressing themselves. Some people love speaking in front of an audience, while others feel more comfortable writing or recording their thoughts privately.
That is why My Bike, My Story offers different ways to contribute.
Option 1: Share Your Story on Video
Would you like people to see and hear you tell your story?
You can express yourself in your own words through a video interview or recorded message. Depending on arrangements, this could be a relaxed conversation with our team or a video you record yourself.
You do not need to be a professional speaker. We want your genuine voice and experience.
Option 2: Share Your Story in Writing
Prefer writing to speaking on camera?
You can submit your story as a written piece. It could be a few paragraphs, a personal reflection, a memory, a letter to your younger self or a story about what cycling means to you.
With your permission, your story may be featured on our website, presented at the event or shared through another agreed format.
You can write it yourself, and we can discuss reasonable support with presentation or editing while preserving your meaning and voice.
Option 3: Share Your Story Through Audio
Would you prefer to speak without appearing on camera?
You can record an audio message or participate in an audio interview. This allows your voice and experiences to be heard without requiring a video appearance.
With your agreement, an audio story could be played during the event or included in a future project feature.
Option 4: Take Part in a Recorded Interview
If you are unsure how to tell your story, we can explore arranging a guided interview.
A member of the project team can ask questions to help you reflect on your experiences, memories, challenges and hopes. You do not need to prepare a speech.
The interview can be recorded in an agreed format, subject to availability and your consent.
Option 5: Share Your Story Anonymously
You may have an experience you would like to share but prefer not to have your name or face shown.
You can ask us to consider your contribution for anonymous presentation. We will discuss how it could be used and take care to avoid identifying you without permission.
Please note that complete anonymity cannot always be guaranteed if the details of a story could identify someone.
Option 6: Attend, Listen and Be Part of the Community
Not ready to share your own story?
That is absolutely fine.
You can attend the event, listen to other people’s experiences, enjoy the fashion show, comedy and music, meet people and discover new perspectives.
You are welcome to participate at your own pace.
There is no pressure to speak, perform or share anything personal.
4. HOW TO SUBMIT YOUR BIKE STORY
We invite individuals, families, cycling clubs, community organisations and people working across the cycling industry to get involved.
To express your interest, please use the Share Your Story form on this page.
Tell us a little about yourself, what your story is about and how you would prefer to share it.
You do not need to write your entire story in the first form. A short introduction is enough to get the conversation started.
5. THE MY BIKE, MY STORY EVENT
More than an event. A celebration of people, creativity and cycling.
My Bike, My Story will bring different creative experiences together under one roof in Glasgow.
The proposed indoor event will combine cycling-inspired fashion, live storytelling, comedy, music and opportunities for people to connect.
You do not need to be a cyclist to enjoy it. You might come because you love fashion, enjoy live entertainment, are curious about other people’s lives, want to meet people or are considering learning to cycle.
The programme is being developed, and the final venue, date and schedule will be announced once confirmed.
What can you expect?
Cycling Fashion Show
A celebration of cycling style, clothing and identity. The show may feature practical cycling outfits, everyday cycling fashion, accessories and designs that help people feel comfortable, visible and confident on and off the bike.
My Bike, My Story — Live
Hear selected personal stories from people with different relationships to cycling. Stories may be shared directly by contributors or presented in another format they have agreed to.
Comedy and Entertainment
Enjoy a contribution from a comedian or other local performer, bringing humour and a fresh perspective to everyday experiences, trying new things and being part of a community.
Music and Creative Performances
Music and other creative contributions will help create an engaging atmosphere and celebrate the people and cultures represented in our community.
Community Connection
Meet people, discover local cycling opportunities, exchange experiences and explore ways to become involved in future activities.
Our aim is to create an event where people feel welcome, represented and inspired—not judged by how fast they cycle, what they know about bicycles or how much experience they have.
6. JOIN THE MY BIKE, MY STORY GROUP BIKE TOUR
Let’s make the journey part of the story.
My Bike, My Story is also exploring a group bike tour to the event location, giving participants the opportunity to travel together by bicycle and arrive as part of a shared community experience.
The idea is to create a memorable journey leading into the event: a chance to meet other riders, enjoy cycling together and celebrate the different stories that bring us to the same destination.
The proposed tour will be developed as a separate part of the event arrangements, with the starting point, route, distance, meeting time and destination confirmed in advance.
What will the bike tour involve?
Depending on the final route and arrangements, the tour may include:
- A planned meeting point in Glasgow
- A group departure towards the event venue
- A selected route appropriate for the confirmed participants and conditions
- Opportunities to connect with fellow riders along the way
- Clear joining information, including route distance and expected duration
- Safety guidance and arrangements appropriate to the route and group
- Information about what participants need to bring and whether any bicycle-hire options are available
The aim is to make the ride welcoming and well organised. We will publish the confirmed route and participation guidance before inviting people to register for the tour.
Do I need to be an experienced cyclist?
No—but please check the published route details before registering.
We want to encourage people to participate at different levels of cycling experience. The final arrangements will need to take account of route length, traffic conditions, participant abilities and the support available.
If you are a beginner, are returning to cycling after a long break or have questions about whether the ride is suitable for you, please contact us before signing up.
The bike tour is a planned part of the wider concept; the route, date, venue and operational arrangements are still to be confirmed.
Can I attend the event without joining the tour?
Absolutely.
You can take part in the indoor event without cycling to it. You can also express interest in the tour without submitting a personal story.
We want people to choose the way they feel most comfortable participating.
[BUTTON: REGISTER YOUR INTEREST IN THE BIKE TOUR]
Registration of interest does not confirm a place on the ride. Final details will be shared when arrangements are confirmed.
7. WHY WE ARE DOING THIS
At Tranquility Cycles CIC, we believe everyone should have the opportunity to discover the benefits of cycling.
Yet people can face barriers for many reasons: lack of confidence, financial circumstances, cultural expectations, limited access to bicycles, lack of opportunities to learn or the belief that cycling is only for certain types of people.
Some women may never have had the opportunity to learn when they were younger. Some adults may feel embarrassed about starting later in life. Others may believe that cycling communities are only for experienced or competitive riders.
My Bike, My Story aims to challenge those assumptions by bringing real people and real experiences into the conversation.
We want to celebrate professional achievements while also recognising the courage it can take to learn your first cycling skill, return to a bicycle after many years or simply decide to try something new.
Through storytelling, creativity and community connection, we hope to:
- Inspire people who have never learned to cycle to consider taking their first steps.
- Encourage women and underrepresented communities to feel that they belong in cycling.
- Celebrate professional cyclists, everyday riders, mechanics, volunteers and supporters.
- Share experiences that can help people feel less alone.
- Connect people with cycling opportunities and community activities.
- Promote confidence, wellbeing, independence and social connection.
- Create opportunities for future collaboration between cycling, creative and community organisations.
Our goal is not to tell people that everyone must cycle. It is to help make cycling an opportunity that more people can explore if they wish.
8. WHO IS WELCOME?
Everyone. Every background. Every level of experience. Every story.
We welcome:
- People who cycle every day
- People who race or work professionally in cycling
- People who cycle for leisure, transport or wellbeing
- People who are learning to ride
- People who have never learned to cycle

You can participate as a storyteller, performer, rider, volunteer, partner, audience member or supporter.
You do not need to fit into a particular category.
You belong because you are part of the human story.
9. FOR CYCLING CLUBS, ORGANISATIONS AND CREATIVE PARTNERS
We would love to hear from people and organisations who share our interest in inclusive cycling, storytelling, creativity and community connection.

10. STORYTELLING, CONSENT AND RESPECT
Your story belongs to you.
We want My Bike, My Story to be a respectful environment where people can choose what they share, how they share it and whether they want their contribution to be made public.
Submitting a story does not automatically give Tranquility Cycles CIC permission to publish or record it.
Before a story, image, voice recording or video is used, we will discuss the intended use with the contributor and obtain the appropriate permission. This includes explaining whether material may appear at an event, on our website, on social media or in future project communications.
Where recording or editing is involved, we will explain the proposed process and agree the arrangements with the contributor. We will take appropriate steps to protect personal information and handle recordings responsibly.
You can tell us if you prefer not to be filmed, photographed or identified. We will discuss what is possible and respect agreed boundaries.
We will not require anyone to share painful or private experiences to take part. You can keep your contribution light-hearted, practical, inspiring or focused on future hopes.
For contributors under 18, appropriate parent or guardian consent and safeguarding arrangements will be required.
Our intention is simple: to celebrate people’s stories without taking away their choice, dignity or control over how those stories are shared.
